March with the Writers Guild of America, East in the 2018 New York City Labor Day Parade on Saturday, September 8th. You bring the energy and we’ll bring the free t-shirts!

Guild members will meet up at 9:30am on East 44th Street, between 5th Avenue and Vanderbilt Avenue. Beginning at 10am, we’ll march down 5th Avenue with union members from across the tri-State area.

The 2018 Labor Day Parade Grand Marshal is Michael Mulgrew, President of the United Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 2. The Parade Chair is Lester Crockett, Regional President of CSEA/AFSCME Local 1000, Region 2.

FAQs

What are my transportation options for getting to and from the event?

Take any train to Grand Central or 42nd St – Bryant Park.

The assembly area blocks will be closed starting at 7:00am, so if you take a car to the assembly area, it will have to drop you off on 43rd St., and you will need to walk to the assembly area from there.

What can I bring into the event?

Your WGAE t-shirt! Don’t have one? Let us know when you RSVP and we’ll bring one for you.

We recommend you bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

Vehicles:

  • Cars, trucks, etc., are not permitted.
  • Motorcycles are allowed as long as you notify us in advance so we can help coordinate & ensure efficient space.
  • Non-motorized bikes are also allowed, so if you want to bring your penny-farthing, more power to you.

Per NYC law, you are not permitted to bring:

  • alcoholic beverages
  • signs/placards with wood, metal, or plastic sticks (cardboard tubes are preferred)
