Lecturer in Screenwriting / Playwriting
The Radio/TV/Film Department at Northwestern University seeks a full-time Lecturer in screenwriting/playwriting to teach writing in the undergraduate program as well as courses in the MFA in Writing for the Screen + Stage (learn more here).
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching at the college level, a professional profile in screenwriting and/or playwriting, and enthusiasm for mentoring young writers. We are particularly interested in candidates who write about or from historically marginalized perspectives.
This position will be located on Northwestern University’s Evanston campus in the greater Chicago area. This is a full-time, benefits eligible lecturer appointment. Appointment starts September 1, 2019 for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal. Review of applications will begin on a rolling basis and continue until the position is filled.
- A terminal degree (MFA) or equivalent in Dramatic Writing
- (playwriting/screenwriting/television writing)
- 1-3 years of experience teaching at the college level
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a creative and
- dynamic environment
