WGA East Files Labor Complaint Against NBC Over Shuttered Nonfiction Unit (Exclusive)

The Writers Guild of America East is hitting back against NBC after the network shuttered its unionized nonfiction production unit Peacock Productions in January. In an unfair labor practices complaint filed with the National Labor Relations Board on Tuesday, the WGA says that it learned in January 2020 that Peacock Productions, which hired around 60-70 freelance writer-producers per year, would cease producing nonfiction television shows except for a “few remaining television shows.”
