Application Checklist

PREVIEW OF REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS FOR THE NEW YORK SCREENWRITERS WORKSHOP

We are focused on engaging writers who have already worked to establish relationships as they
pursue craft and having completed at least one feature-length screenplay. The Workshop
expects all applicants to have awareness of statistics and research related to the lack of
industry inclusion and apply mindful of the spirit of the program.

All applicants will be required to submit:

1. An artistic statement: At this point in time, how do you describe yourself as a
writer? Tell us about the focus of your creative work, career highlights, and
the potential impact of this program. (500 word max)

2. Think of a creative project that resonates with you for of its depiction of
underrepresented voices and/or stories. Describe how that project has
shaped your work and impacted your commitment to industry inclusion. (500
word max)

3. A resume (1 page max)

4. A completed screenplay and summary; and (recommended 120 page max)

5. A treatment for the project that writer would like to work on during the
fellowship. (recommended 5 pages)

APPLICATION UPLOAD CHECKLIST

All required uploads must be put in the RESUME & ATTACHMENT section of your
PROJECT PAGE.

It MUST be labeled with The Workshop and File Name as
followed for each upload.

Applications that do not follow stated eligibility requirements, directions, and standards for feature screenplay formatting and length will not be considered.
